Orchid Cottage is a spacious nineteenth century character holiday cottage available for rental in the picturesque east Devon village of Axmouth. Axmouth village is full of quaint thatched cottages and lies next to the River Axe just a one kilometre level walk from the harbour and fascinating Jurassic coast. Despite Axmouth's rural setting the nearby town of Seaton provides easy access to everyday amenities and shopping. Orchid Cottage is located in East Devon, very close to the border with West Dorset. The seaside resorts of Lyme Regis, in Dorset, and Sidmouth are located a few miles either side of Seaton. Orchid cottage is the ideal cottage to rent for groups of up to six people and is available thoughout the year.
Orchid Cottage was part of the building comprising the Axmouth village old post office and stores. It is located next to a quiet lane within a valley with steep inclines providing field and woodland views to the front and rear. Orchid cottage was recently refurbished to provide a spacious three bedroom, with occasional fourth bedroom, end of terrace property that can comfortably provide accommodation for six people. It is elegantly presented with good quality furnishings and is cosy and warm in colder months with modern efficient central heating and good insulation through the majority of the cottage. Outside a private patio with a table and chairs provides alfresco dining for six next to a garden densely planted for all year-round colour. There is ample parking both on street and an allocated space.
In the immediate vicinity of Orchid Cottage there are numerous footpaths providing varied walks with spectacular views. The nearby south west coastal path passes though the Undercliffs national nature reserve which extends between Axmouth and Lyme Regis. The Seaton wetlands nature reserve provides the ideal opportunity for birdwatching along the Axe river estuary. In addition to the seaside towns of Lyme Regis, Seaton and Sidmouth, there are numerous coastal villages to explore such as Charmouth, Beer and Branscombe. Many of the beaches in the area are excellent for fossil hunting. Further afield there are areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Blackdown Hills and Dartmoor national park. With close proximity to the Jurassic coast and inland attractions you will not be short of activities during your holiday.
